Stanley
is a popular after dinner speaker with over 30 years experience of public
speaking. His speech is drawn from a rich seam of anecdotes from his career
as a celebrity booker. Through his company, Performing Artistes, Stanley
has hired the famous (and the infamous) for conferences, awards ceremonies
and dinners for hundreds of blue chip corporate clients.
From a sparkling 'luvvies' awards night to a plasterers convention, trade association dinner to sportsmen's night, Stanley's stock in trade has been getting the right celebrity to fill the bill.
He lifts the lid on some of the more bizarre and hilarious incidents that have occurred during his eventful career and goes to show that dealing with celebrities isn't always as straightforward as some would imagine. From explaining the rudimentary aspects of cricket to Ruby Wax, to booking the then imprisoned "rogue trader" Nick Leeson, from trying to get Michael Buerk across Europe during the ash cloud, to tracking down elusive stars, Stanley's speech, coupled with his natural ability to impersonate some of the celebrities he has worked with, fascinates and entertains audiences.
Stanley's early career was actually in financial services. As the director of a number of leading insurance companies and IFAs including Towry Law and Noble Lowndes, he gained a reputation for lively and humorous presentations, often backed by a live band, while also being an expert in the use and abuse of occupational pension schemes.
With a lifelong love of the theatre, he has written and produced a musical and run for political office. His book "Get Me A Celebrity!" (publication date, 14 September 2011) is a frank but very funny account about working with popular celebrities by someone who has enjoyed unique access to them over the last twenty years.
He is married to Iris, with whom he has 3 children, 2 grandchildren and the latest in a long line of unaffordable mortgages. To help with the latter, he is available for after dinner speaking, awards hosting or even a motivational speech!
"...a wonderful mixture of ripe anecdotes and sage advice that
has opened my eyes to the reality of life on the celebrity circuit. A
must for anybody who likes to hear about how the stars of media, sport,
business, politics and entertainment earn a handsome living in addition
to their day jobs."
